The National Wine Centre of Australia (NWC) is one of Adelaide's leading hospitality venues situated in the vibrant East End of the CBD, in close proximity to the emerging Lot Fourteen precinct.

Our unique architectural building is surrounded by the green space of the Adelaide Botanic Gardens and parklands and plays host to over 800 events per year attracting international, national and local visitors. Events include conferences, weddings, banquets, meetings and seminars.

The National Wine Centre is seeking confident and motivated Conference and Events Team Leaders that want to work in a premier establishment. Successful applicants will report to the Food & Beverage Services Manager and will assist in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Conference and Events department to produce world-class functions and catering to our clientele.

The responsibilities of this role include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Provide leadership to motivate and engage the Conference and Events (C&E) team to deliver five-star service.

  • Liaise with the Kitchen and Event Planning teams to ensure client expectations are exceeded whilst managing staff

  • Liaise with clients to ensure all requests have been met

  • Be highly visible on the C&E floor to oversee/supervise major events/functions (this is a hands-on operational role)

  • Delegate duties to team members as required

  • Assist in monitoring the food and beverage stock, controlling costs and wages through effective staffing levels


To be considered for the role, you will have:

  • Previous experience in a similar role (ideally in a hotel or busy function centre)

  • Minimum 2-3 years Food & Beverage/Banquets experience

  • Ability to lead, motivate & develop a team

  • Strong communication skills

  • Team player, self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure

  • Passion for delivering results & exceptional guest experiences

  • A current RSA certificate valid in South Australia (essential)

  • Must possess valid Australian work rights or appropriate visa to work in Australia
