Welcome to your new student association.
The student organisations at UniSA (USASA) and UofA (YouX) are really excited to introduce your new student organisation, the Adelaide University Student Association (AUSA). AUSA has been created from a merger of USASA and YouX, and will deliver all the fantastic services and events you have come to expect, plus a whole lot of new and exciting things!
By using the knowledge and expertise of both founding organisations, AUSA will provide one of the best student experiences in Australia, with an amazing offering of events, activities, advocacy, support, welfare, representation, and more.
The best news is that all these offerings and services will be available to all students for free! Every student at Adelaide University will automatically become an AUSA Member once enrolled. AUSA will be available wherever you study, with a multi-campus, remote, and online approach.
AUSA will also provide a powerful voice to make sure that your concerns are heard and addressed at a time when so much change is being implemented to establish the new University.
An AUSA Transition Board has been in place since August to guide the establishment of AUSA. The Board has equal numbers of students from USASA and YouX (six total), plus two university staff members (appointed by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Student Experience & Success at Adelaide University), and will add two more professional external directors that are currently being recruited. The Transition Board will be in place until 31 May 2026 and help transition USASA and YouX into AUSA. The Transition Board will also help form the Adelaide University Student Representative Council in 2026.
The Transition Board is working to ensure a smooth transition process is in place for all existing USASA and YouX services. Communications around these services will be provided as AUSA begins to take shape. This will include information about elections in 2026, and how you can elect your new AUSA Board.
So, what does this all mean for you?
If you are a continuing or new student in 2026, you will automatically become an AUSA member once you enrol at Adelaide University. AUSA will start operating on 5 January 2026 and will be your first point of contact for services, advice, and support. From January, you will start to see AUSA active on campus and you will receive regular communications and announcements about our programs and initiatives for 2026.
For now, USASA and YouX will continue delivering the services you need at UniSA and UofA until 24 December 2025.
