AUSA Student Care staff provide advice, support and advocacy on a range of University related matters. We pride ourselves on being informed, insightful, practical, and independent from the University. You can count on us for support that’s clear, grounded and trustworthy. 

These matters can include but are not limited to the following: 

Academic 

  • Unsatisfactory academic progress/preclusion 

  • Student grievances and appeals 

  • Variation to assessment procedures 

  • Academic integrity breaches e.g. plagiarism, collusion, contract cheating 

  • Re-mark and assessment matters 

  • Appeal of final grades 

  • Delivery of teaching and learning 

  • HDR candidature support (progress reviews and milestones / supervision matters) 

Administrative 

  • Amendment to enrolment (retrospective withdraw not fail & fee refunds and remissions) 

  • Enrolments/restrictions  

  • Graduations 

Behaviour and Conduct 

  • Support for students who need to access or respond to the University’s safer campus community reporting process, or misconduct rules.  

  • Additionally, we are available to provide information, referral and advocacy with external agencies. 

 

Student Care staff include Education and Welfare Officers (EWOs) and Advocates, both with extensive experience with supporting students to understand and navigate both University systems and processes along with those of external agencies. 

Our role as an Advocate and EWO is to provide information and support in University policies and procedures. We will always respect a student’s right to how they apply this advice. Basically, if things aren’t going to plan, we’re here to help you make a new one.

Appointments are offered in person, by phone or online, noting some enquires can be addressed by email. We will be guided by your preference. We are open 9am to 5pm Australian Central Standard Time UTC+9:30) each weekday.

  • Your full name and Student ID. 

  • Please advise if you are a commencing student or a continuing student. 

  • If a continuing student, please advise your foundation University / legacy University / which University you commenced your degree with (TBC). 

  • A contact phone number

  • Preferred day and time for an appointment. 

  • Brief outline of the issue you are seeking assistance with. 

  • Attach documents or relevant files. 

All information provided to Student Care is confidential and shared only with agreement from the student. 

Visiting Services  

We partner with a number of visiting services from external agencies that provide tailored support to enrolled students at Adelaide University. 

Free Legal Service 

This visiting service is provided by qualified Legal Practitioners during the academic year. Appointments are available to address legal issues relating to family law, traffic and minor criminal offences, consumer complaints, tenancy, debt, Centrelink matters and neighbour disputes. Advance bookings are essential. 

Tax Help 

Provided in partnership with the Australian Taxation Office, this service aids eligible students to prepare tax returns from August to October. Email the team to secure your session.
