AUSA Student Care offers independent information, advocacy, support and referrals across a range of academic, administrative and welfare issues to all students enrolled at Adelaide University. 

Student Care staff include both Education and Welfare Officers (EWOs) and Advocates.  

All staff, both EWOs and Advocates at Student Care have extensive experience with supporting students to understand and navigate both University systems and processes along with those of external agencies. 

Appointments & Contact Details 

Appointments are offered in person, by phone or online, noting some enquires can be addressed by email. We will be guided by your preference. We are open 9am to 5pm each weekday (Adelaide time). 

Please phone 8313 5430 or email studentcare@adelaide.edu.au to make your appointment and include the following: 

  • Your full name and Student ID. 

  • Please advise if you are a commencing student or a continuing student. 

  • If a continuing student, please advise your foundation University / legacy University / which University you commenced your degree with (TBC). 

  • A contact phone number. 

  • Preferred day and time for an appointment. 

  • Brief outline of the issue you are seeking assistance with. 

  • Attach documents or relevant files. 

All information provided to Student Care is confidential and shared only with agreement from the student. 

Welfare Support  

Along with providing information, support and advice on a range of university-related matters, our team can assist with support on the challenges of balancing life and study demands. This can include: 

Affordable Housing 

In partnership with University Accommodation Services, assess a student’s eligibility and suitability to access the University’s Affordable Housing program. 

Centrelink 

Information and assistance for students accessing and navigating Centrelink student payments.  

Student Loans & Grants 

Our team administer a small number of grants on behalf of the University, AUSA and Benefactor Grants. 

Welfare & Wellbeing 

Contact Student Care for assistance with any issue which is directly or indirectly affecting your ability to study successfully. We can arrange referrals to other services where appropriate. 

Visiting Services  

We partner with a number of visiting services from external agencies that provide tailored support to enrolled students of the university.

Free Legal Service 

This visiting service is provided by qualified Legal Practitioners during the academic year. Appointments are available to address legal issues relating to family law, traffic and minor criminal offences, consumer complaints, tenancy, debt, Centrelink matters and neighbour disputes. Advance bookings are essential. 

Tax Help 

Provided in partnership with the Australian Taxation Office, this service aids eligible students to prepare tax returns from August to October. Email the team to secure your session.
