The Adelaide University Neurological Society (AUNS) is a student-led society dedicated to fostering interest and engagement in neurology, neurosurgery and neuroscience. AUNS aims to bridge the gap between pre-clinical education and real-world clinical practice by providing students with opportunities to develop their knowledge, practical skills and understanding of neurological health.
AUNS welcomes students from a range of disciplines, including medicine, neuroscience, biomedical science, psychology and allied health, such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech pathology. The society recognises that neurological care is inherently multidisciplinary and aims to create an inclusive community where students from different backgrounds can learn from one another and explore the diverse career pathways within the field.
Throughout the year, AUNS will run a range of educational, clinical, research, professional development and social activities. These may include:
The society aims to provide opportunities for students to engage with neurological research and develop an understanding of emerging advances in the field.
Beyond clinical education, AUNS is committed to raising awareness of neurological conditions and their impact on patients, families and the broader community. Through awareness campaigns, social media initiatives and projects such as Neuro Narratives, the society will promote accessible education and discussion around conditions including stroke, epilepsy, dementia and other neurological disorders.
AUNS aims to create a supportive and engaging community for students interested in the nervous system, while providing meaningful opportunities to learn, connect, collaborate and explore the future of neurological healthcare and research.
