Launching the future of space one student at a time!
Adelaide University Satellite and Telemetry (AUSAT) is a student society giving Adelaide University students hands-on, interdisciplinary experience in satellite engineering, telemetry, and ground station operations. Membership is open to students from any degree or discipline (no prior technical experience required!) with project teams spanning mechanical, electrical, software/firmware, and ground station operations, alongside finance and marketing/media roles for students interested in the operational side.
Our core initiative is building a functional ground station (targeted for late-2026) followed by the design, construction, and launch of a student-built CubeSat 12–18 months later. We have also established an international partnership with Tartu University's Estonian Student Satellite programme, working toward a shared ground station network. Activities include weekly project meetings, monthly sub-project progress updates, technical workshops, and outreach events showcasing our students’ capabilities to the wider university community.
We hope to attract students genuinely curious about space systems: engineers wanting real project experience, but also students from non-technical backgrounds interested in the policy, communications, and operational sides of a space mission.
